Basic Level

Basic level builds on the skills learned at the puppy level. Obstacles provide a bit more challenge and test the dog’s skills. This level helps prepare the dogs for the Master level obstacles. The focus remains on keeping the dogs safe, confident and happy as they navigate the new challenges.

Handler agrees to accept and assume the risk involved in working on the canine confidence course.

To complete the Basic Level, the dog must have completed the Puppy Level first, and be able to correctly do the following in a safe and confident manner without assistance on appropriately sized obstacles at least twice:

___ ___ Traverse the pallet ramp obstacle (basic level)

___ ___ Walk across the top of a wobbly log from one end to the other

___ ___ Navigate along a path of raised stepping ‘stones’/stumps

___ ___ Walk across a 12” x 12’ plank with at least 3 obstacles on it

___ ___ Walk across the top of at least 2 barrels laying on their sides

___ ___ Hop from one small platform to another across a size appropriate gap

___ ___ Climb a metal ramp

___ ___ Complete the hanging tire obstacle

___ ___ Push through a 12’ chute of fabric

___ ___ Jump a size appropriate panel jump and window jump

___ ___ Complete the basic level horizontal ladder

___ ___ Complete 9 obstacles in a row before getting a reward
